A Look Back at 2013

Can you believe another year has almost come to and end? I thought it would be fun to take a look back at some of my favourite moments of 2013. It was quite a year - new job, saying goodbye to old relationships and hello to new ones, new love, and some very exciting moments both academically and professionally.

^ My apartment really started to come together with some great scores, including these bamboo chairs off craigslist and this rug from an estate sale. I've been here a year and a half now, and it's really beginning to feel like home! Stay tuned for some more updates in the New Year...I just did a mini-makeover around here and can't wait to show you all!
^ My blog's name went up in lights when my logo was featured on this giant billboard in Times Square in New York City!

^ I never announced this on the blog, but I was very excited when Tia and Tamera pinned a picture of my apartment to Pinterest directly off my blog. I grew up watching these two! It's quite an honor. See the pin here!

I worked on some school projects that I am extremely proud of. I've learned so much as a design student! Learning to render has been especially fun!:
Term 2:
Term 3:
Term 4:
Term 5 (full project coming to the blog next week!):

And last but certainly not least, I met and began dating a man who makes my heart so happy! He has been my biggest support system the past couple of months and I probably wouldn't have made it through my term five final projects without his encouragement.
I can't wait to make more memories with him come 2014.
What is your biggest moment from 2013!?

Concrete Jungle Where Dreams are Made

One day soon, I will make it to New York. I'm so jealous that my boyfriend is heading there TOMORROW for a father-son bonding trip with his dear ol' dad...(umm..where was my invite? I'm fine just wandering around all the shops while you two do your boy things, promise!). In all seriousness though I know it'll be a wonderful trip for them, and I've decided to dedicate today's post to a little NYC lovin' in decor.

^ How about this lovely New York poster, here featured three different ways in the home of Sofia from Mokkasin. The poster is the 2010 Guide to Manhattan by David Ehrenstråhle and it is, unfortunately, sold out. That crazy bf of mine is a lot obsessed with maps, and with New York, so this would be the perfect piece of art for him.

^^ Next, I adore this gallery wall in Jackie of York Avenue's tiny studio apartment featuring two New York inspired artworks! I especially love the watercolor skyline!
Get the Manhattan word map HERE
and the Skyline HERE.

^^^ I've posted about the amazing work of Henry Hargreaves before.
Here he creates the NYC subway map out of ribbon...this could be an easy DIY in marker though...hmmm.

I recently saw a gorgeous vintage New Yorker poster with artwork by George Steiner at the local antique shop of this cover blown up extra large:

It was $90 and have never read the New Yorker, so I passed it up, but now I'm rethinking. Could be a fabulous addition, and a way to keep the city close to my heart until I get my own chance to visit!
Have you ever been to New York?!

ps. Now that the new blog design is up an running, I'm hoping to resume Furniture Favourite Fridays next week. E-mail me at tiffanyleighinteriordesign@gmail.com if you're interested in participating in the series!

In One Week...

In one week, a lot will be changing in my life. For starters, I will have an undergrad degree in English under my belt. That feels amazing. Also amazing? I will no longer be in a long distance relationship.

My wonderful boyfriend goes to school in Halifax, almost 2000 km away. To drive to see him, it would take 19 hours. It's far. But on Wednesday, he comes home...For good.

I can't even begin to express how happy I am. I have not seen him in seven weeks. Sometimes its lonely, sometimes its hard, but it is always worth it. Long distance has taught me so much about communication and appreciation, but after almost two years of this, I'm so excited and ready to have him home.

When I move to Toronto in the fall for interior design school, we will have a small amount of distance between us again, but nothing like what we've been doing.
I know it's not an interior design post, and I know I'm supposed to be studying, but this news is too great not to share.
