My Girly Gallery Wall

What bachelorette pad would be complete without a girly gallery wall? Over the past year or so, I've been collecting prints and art pieces without much thought to how they would all coordinate together or how exactly I was going to hang them. I'll admit, I totally wung (winged?) this gallery wall (as evidenced by the MANY nail holes hiding behind each piece as I inched everything up, down, over and back again until I was satisfied...don't tell my landlord!). But now that it's up I have to admit the colours in each piece look perfect together...almost like I planned it!

I really like how the art is framed by the doors flanking each side of the bookshelf (one leads to my walk in closet and the other to my bathroom) and I kept the highest piece in line with the moulding around the door to emphasize this. I purposely positioned the pictures around the TV to take the eye away from this big, blank, black rectangle.

Like my prints? Shop them below:

YSL Leopard Loafers (I scored the original watercolor, but you can get the print!): The Aestate
Gold T: (Gift from my big bro!) Chapters/Indigo
OUI graphic print: The Aestate
Lips Print: The Aestate (now available on Made by Girl)
Audrey Hepburn: Gift from my mama purchased from a vendor in NYC
Landscape: Flea Market Find!
Small Lamp Watercolor: Painted by yours truly! See it up close here
Butterfly Taxidermy: HomeSense (read about it here!)
Audrey Hepburn Triptych: Gift from my boyfriend, oddly enough also purchased in NYC!

Do you have a gallery wall in your home?

Wear/Where: The Lips Trend in Fashion and Home Decor

Today, it's all about paying some lip service to lips. There's something so feminine and sexy about a big ol pair of lips - Angelina Jolie knows what I'm talking about - and I'm loving this fun playful trend popping up in fashion and decor lately. I've been all over this. As long as I have my bachelorette pad, I'm taking advantage of as many girly things as possible...but let's be honest, even when I'm living with a man, the lips are going to stay.

This is  a great example of how fashion and decor are major influences on eachother. I am in love with my watercolor lips from The Aestate. I've posted about them more times than I probably should, but they are that good. Apparently Forever 21 was loving those lips too because they made a sweater looking suspiciously similar..... which I of course bought and can't wait to wear all fall.
Are you loving the lips trend? Big fat kisses to all of you xoxoxox.

My Ceramic Parrot

Remember this post, when I was obsessing over Christine Dovey's ceramic parrot?
Well this summer I got one of my very own from a vendor at the Aberfoyle Antique Market. All my best flea market finds come from this place I swear, I love it.

Nothing I love more than a glamorous vignette!
Hope you are all having a lovely start to your week. xoxo

Instaglimpse

Just popping in today to share a glimpse into my daily life via my instagram feed.
Are you all on Instagram? I was pretty late to the game but it has quickly become my favourite form of social media. It's so fun to see what you are all up to each day.
If you don't have Instagram...well, it's time loves, it's time. But in the meantime you can catch up here.
^My new prints came from The Aestate, including the original watercolor of the Yves St. Laurent leopard loafers. Couldn't be more excited! The gallery wall is coming along..
^Some additional art I've been gathering. Loving the little oil landscape I scored at the flea market recently. See more info on my butterfly taxidermy here.
^Got a huge bag of my favourite candy! What is your favourite?
^ Working on rendering leather in class this term
^One of my fave dresses from BCBG
^My best Olsen twin impression, wearing my mom's vintage sunnies circa 1970s
^Spent the day at the Blue Jay game with my brother and his gf on Sunday. A perfect day in my perfect city <3
^Couldn't be more pleased with my sandals from Marsha's Closet (or the wonderful customer service...thanks again for shipping to Canada guys!).

So come on now! Let's be instafriends so I can snoop your life too!

Style from the Crypt Keeper

Do you all remember the "to be or not to be" scene in Hamlet where he holds up the skull? Well, apparently the guy knew a thing or two about sick accessories because, people, skulls are in!
When I first heard about this trend, I'll admit I was beyond skeptical ("Skulls? Ew creepy").
BUT THEN I started to see the trend, and the mind inside my own skull was quickly changed.

The key to getting this trend right is to remember that a skull is edgy (and a little dark), so be sure to contrast that with girlier, softer pieces. The pink chair in the first image and the floral wallpaper in the last image are perfect examples of this. Think lace, flowers, the colour pink, etc.

Now I just gotta wait for the Halloween decorations to hit the dollar store so I can gold leaf my own!
I picture it on my little bar cart with a folded card that says "Pick your Poison" beside all the alchy. I'm clever like that.

Are you a fan of this trend? I'd imagine it's probably not for everyone.
But I'm really grave diggin' it. I feel it in my bones. It's to die for (and many other cheesy skeletal puns).
