My Three Muses Pillow

Awhile ago, the lovely Erika of Small Shop Studio teamed up with Michelle Dwight Designs to giveaway a custom 'Three Muses' pillow to one lucky reader. Imagine my glee when I found out that I had won! It's here and it's good - in fact, I couldn't be happier with it! It's just so much fun and a great conversation piece.
When deciding on my muses, I tried to choose three women who represent different points of inspiration for me.

The first is Carrie Bradshaw. Although fictional, Carrie is a strong, independent women, a successful writer, and one hell of a dresser. She is my fashion muse, reminding me to always dress for myself - not a man, not the trends, just me. And to always, always, be a good friend.
"The most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you YOU love, well, that's just fabulous" - Carrie Bradshaw

'They say nothing lasts forever; dreams change, trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style.'

Kelly Wearstler is an obvious choice - my design muse. She is a visionary whose interior spaces read as stunning works of art. I always look to her work when I feel I am playing it too safe, when I need that extra push to be bold and fearless with my creativity.
"...there is genius in boldness. Fortunately...it is not a genius that is out of reach. All it requires is a willingness to make mistakes and to experiment, with a few considerations for the laws of attraction" -Kelly Wearstler

Last but not least, Audrey Hepburn, who I have always upheld as this sort of  standard of grace and class that I try to hold myself to each day. She was a Unicef ambassador and had such a positive outlook on life. She is also my eyebrow muse...if there is such a thing.
"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles" - Audrey Hepburn

So now it's your turn! Comment below and let me know who your 3 muses would be.

Girly Art

Hi Loves! I'm back. I wanted to thank you all for your kind words of support last week and for understanding my break from the blogging world. I still don't feel 100% myself, but I can't put the world and the things I love on hold forever. Oh, how I missed you all! Now back to the pretty stuff...

I have a thing for girly art. Living in my own studio apartment (bachelorette pad as I like to call it) has really allowed me  to decorate in a way that I might not always be able to when I need to compromise with a live-in situation. Right now my Chanel prints from I See Noise are the epitome of feminine glamour. Sometimes I think about adding a third bottle to the collection (I know you've all heard of the power of three! I love this one from MadeByGirl:
via Made by Girl
I have also been toying with the idea of moving the perfume bottles to another area and painting something large and abstract and pink to hang over the sofa....decisions decisions.

And of course, I can't do a post on girl art and not include Jessica's lips print. It has been popping up everywhere. The girl is literally killed it with this one!:

I want to add the lips print (and probably the OUI print too because how can you not?!) to a gallery wall I am planning around my TV. Audrey is feeling a little bit lonely....
SO happy to be back ladies!
And HAPPY (belated) CANADA DAY to all my fellow Canadian bloggers. xox

Last Chance for the Best Rest

No Watercolor Wednesday this week my friends. I'm swamped with finals and that extra 'me' time is a bit non-existent at the moment. I'll be back in full force next week! Today is also the last day to enter the 100% silk sleep mask giveaway from Silk Sleep. You won't regret it! I mean just look how soundly Audrey is snoozing with hers. My sleep mask has changed my life (and did I mention it's wrinkle preventative?!) Good luck and thank you to all who entered!

Tiffany & Co. Reception - Completed Project

A couple of weeks ago I shared some sneak peek shots of the Tiffany & Co. reception area that I designed for a school project, but it was all crinkled and the pictures were horrible quality.Today I wanted to show you the completed project, including my presentation boards, floor plan, elevations and perspective drawing! It looks so much smoother now that it is glued down.
I wanted to create a sense of classic luxury and refined style that reflected the company's long history in the jewelry business. It was a fun to render in all the architectural detailing. The design was inspired by the exterior of the Tiffany's in Soho:

And my best friend Laura gifted me this sweet little print, which I think ties in just so perfectly with today's post:
I love it!
Lastly, don't forget to hop on over and check out this weeks nursery at the Baby Blog Party! Have a great weekend xo.

Stylish Coffee Table Books

I'm a total sucker for coffee table books. I love to read them, I love how they make a space look styled, and they truly make the perfect gift for any occasion. Here is a list of a few of the many books I'd love to add to my slowly growing collection:

Here is a look at my current collection:

I've received each one of these as a gift (excpet for GBGP which I won in a giveaway!) and I love each and every one.  Thank you to my brothers and their beautiful girlfriends, my godmother Aunt Trish, my darling friends Bre and Mike, and my loving Boyfriend for these beautiful books!

To end off today, I'd like to send my thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the horrible events that took place in Boston yesterday. I am filled with sadness for all those who lost lives and limbs and loved ones. My heart goes out to you.

Halloween at Tiffany's - Holly Golightly Costume and Pumpkin

Halloween is fast approaching and I'm sad to say that this year I will not be dressing up.
I'm currently so busy with school, as well as having been hired on to work as a cashier at a two week pop up sale, that I just don't have the time for Halloween parties this year.

Instead, I wanted to share with you my favourite Halloween costume and pumpkin that I have ever done!
Y'all know I'm a bit obsessed with Audrey Hepburn, my idol, so in my first year of University when I was living on residence (can't believe that was 4 years ago already), I decided to dress up as Holly Golightly:
I seriously loved this costume more than anything. Believe it or not I was the only girl I saw in rez dressed up as Holly Golightly.. most chose to go the 'less clothing' route. And yes, I am holding a grilled cheese sandwich. The all night caf was truly a life saver sometimes!

Then, the following year I got all-audrey'd out with my pumpkin carving skills.
I've been seeing lots of pics of painting pumpkins this year. Love the look, but in my opinion nothing beats a handful of cold pumpkin guts. Just me or...?
^Photo op before changing into 'it's okay if they get messy' clothes. I drew the picture free hand from a similar image I saw on the internet.
All carved up! We still have that floral wallpaper in the powder room at my parents house. I kind of love it in a weird way. And yes, I cheated with the tiara. I purchased it at the dollar store and went all 'Mean Girls Homecoming Scene' breaking off bits until it fit.
 All lit up!
And that, my friends, is how you do Halloween at Tiffany's.
Are you dressing up this Halloween? As what?!

DIY: Touch of Gold Picture Frame

I wanted to frame my ultra glamorous print of Audrey Hepburn that my mom got from a vendor in NYC, but I wasn't sure what colour of frame to use since the print came with a black matte.
I thought white would be too stark of a contrast and take away from the picture, but black might be too basic.
In the end, I went with a plain black Ribba frame, to which I added a gold band on the inner part of the frame.

I love the result, and it was super easy:

1) The Supplies:
Picture Frame (I used Ribba) / Piece of art / Painters tape / Krylon 18kt Gold Leaf Pen

2) Pop the guts (glass, matte, backing etc.) out of the frame, leaving the frame only.
Carefully cover the face of the frame with painter's tape, making sure the edge is straight and clean.

3) Using the gold leaf pen, colour in the inside edge of the frame

4) Allow the paint to dry for about ten minutes

5) Peel  the tape off slowly, frame your art and enjoy!
The result is fantastically subtle. From straight on, the frame looks all black, but viewed from an angle, the touch of gold adds the perfect amount of sparkle.

A super quick and easy project! What do you think?

Touches of Tassels

Gone are the days when tassels indicated formality in the form of elaborate drapery ties. Tassels are now fun and trendy, and I adore them (Could you tell by my header?). The fact that Audrey wore tassel earplugs in Breakfast at Tiffany's show that these can be timeless beauties as well!

Did you catch out my bathroom reveal yesterday? If not,  check it out!
There is some more tasseled goodness to be seen in there. xo
